I do not know the red wings organization enough to go into detail about who I'd trade.
I can only say, I'd be looking for deals like Toronto did with Hyman. A guy who wasn't being signed by the team that drafted him and trade some pick for him. You mention this type of deal with Honka and Puli-whatever in your blog. Makes a lot of sense to me.
I'd be trying to move older guys if they are willing to waive trade clauses for a chance to win. Helm, Nielsen, Ericcson could be possible even though some of more than a year left on their deal.
I like targeting carolina, Avs, Maybe even Philly who all have prospects and players to potentially make a trade. |

Your welcome.
Question, where are the red wings in the rebuild? I guess that would dictate some of the trades too. Picks vs. prospects closer to being ready. |

That is the million dollar question. It will be dictated almost year to year. Until there is a firm grasp on the goaltending and defensemen, it is a question mark. Hronek is a very good piece. Cholowski has shown some promise. Dekeyser is hard to gauge because of injury. Moritz Seider is doing well in the ahl, but is still very young. Jared McIsaac has also been hurt a bit but will be playing for his international team.
Until there is a firm grasp on what the squad will look like next year (20 players on expiring deals btwn NHL and AHL) it is impossible to tell what kind of team this will be in 20-21 |

Sounds like picks and prospects could be ideal for deadline deals.
I don't know if there's anything the leafs really need/want but I'd definitely try to get Liljegren from them. He may be a late bloomer as a late first round pick and the red wings would have the time for him to do that. |

Leafs need to bolster defense. If I were Dubas I’d see if Dougie Hamilton or drew Daughty were available. Wings don’t have the assets Toronto needs. |

He said he'll evaluate this season and that's exactly what he will do.
While getting the 1st overall, hopefully.
Since almost none of the vets have any trade value...
Well, TDL could be interesting. |

Green as well. If healthy he could bolster a 2nd pp |

I think Stevie should use his cap space between now and the Seattle expansion draft to take on some bad contracts in return for picks/prospects. Im not sure Mike Green or Jimmy Howard would waive, but they would both have value on the market. This is all about asset management and acquiring ANYTHING before they walk for nothing? 4th Rd pick for Trevor Daley? Done!
A new GM will usually take some time evaluating before going out and getting the man to coach his team moving forward. As long as Blashill isn't hindering the growth of the young players there's no harm in keeping him behind the bench, but at some point you've got to hold him accountable for his game management and terrible choices. |

Sabres fan here.
Sabres need Top 6 RW or C.
They have literally 10 NHL Dmen, and some young players, prospects that need another year of baking before being able to contribute effectively.
Assuming Detroit needs younger players and prospects, while also addressing the D which is pretty bad by any standard.
To Detroit:
- Jake McCabe, 26 yr old, LhD, stay at home and can/will play a physical game. Wears an "A", recognized as a leader who plays the game the right way. Plays PK as well.
- Tage Thompson, 22, RW, 6'6" 210lb who was tearing up the AHL before suffering a shoulder injury..on IR for probably 5 weeks. Very good shot, can stickhandle pretty well...working on developing his inside game while growing into his body. Lots of good promiss here.
- One (1) of:
* Arttu Routsolainen, 22, C, plays in Finland, fast, smart, tearing up the league for last 1-1/2 years. Nearly made Sabres out of camp, contract terms required he be sent back to Finland rather than AHL.
* Andrew Olglevie, 24, C, played at Notre Dame, now in AHL for past 1-1/2 years, posting 0.8 points per game
* Jacob Bryson, 22, D, played at Providence as best Dman on team that won the championship. Posting 0.35 pts/game, solid defender.
To Buffalo:
Anthony Mantha
Cap is roughly money in/out. |

Sabres will give Detroit a 2020 4th and 2021 1st to take Kyle Okposo, who may be 1 hit away from going on LTIR. |

Wow. Well put together. It’s never impossible, but I think Mantha leaving is unlikely. However, if Gretzky can get traded, anyone can get traded. Thanks for putting this together!!

I do think Stevie will be wide open for business by the deadline. Especially guys that are becoming UFA. Seattle may be a wheel and deal for sure. Big wrench in the works |

For most of his tenure, when healthy, Green moves the puck better than any other D. The wins with him in the lineup vs without have typically been slanted in his favor. Everything looks bad now, but Green can make a very good first pass and still sees O zone ice very well |

Okposo is another scary look at what head injuries can do. I’m still in the midst of getting through a bad one, and the depression and issues are just brutal. He’s a warrior for still trying, but I don’t know how he’s not terrified. Head injuries take you to a dark place, for sure |

They’ve been down and out for sure. It appears that Jack Eichel is in a good place. They have a huge fan base, I think they get a good deal of Torontonians. Just haven’t been able to put it all together.
I’d like to visit there one day though |

I'd probably be down for a Puljujarvi for Rasmussen swap. Fills a bit of an organizational need if he can remain at C and it's not like his primary role will need to be scoring. Might want a bit of a sweetener (a 4th or something) for the drop off in ceiling but I could understand some hesitation over much more. |

Not sure if its possible cap wise or if either team would do it but how about Mantha to the Sharks for their first next year, Ryan Merkley and Lebanc ?
Wings are banking on rapid decline amongst the Sharks so that first is a good one and lebanc and Merkley are nice pieces no doubt.
Is it slanted to much in either teams favor? |

No thanks. Mantha is going to be a 40 goal scorer if he can stay healthy. He’s not going anywhere.
Now, if anyone wants Abby, Frans or Daley, we can toss in a pick to make it happen. I’m thinking a 3rd rounder for taking on the salary. |
